Official statement from Mbappé to Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappé

The French forward reassures the club after a minor ankle scare, promising caution during international duty.

Kylian Mbappé has communicated directly with Real Madrid regarding his current condition and recovery work while on duty with the French national team. At the Bernabéu, the club is keeping close tabs on their star striker’s progress, seeking updates almost minute by minute.

Mbappé, for his part, has been transparent with the club:

“At the slightest pain or risk, I’ll return to Madrid,” he reportedly told them.

An Ankle Scare Against Villarreal

Madrid fans held their breath during the recent clash with Villarreal when Mbappé left the pitch after twisting his ankle while scoring. He immediately requested a substitution to avoid aggravating the issue. Fortunately, tests revealed only a minor sprain with no serious damage.

As a result, he has still been called up by France and has not been ruled out of featuring in their upcoming fixtures during the international break.

Madrid’s Caution vs. France’s Leadership Needs

Ideally, Real Madrid would prefer Mbappé to rest and focus on the next league match against Getafe. However, as captain of France, his presence in the squad is considered crucial, even if he does not play a full role. Simply attending the camp demonstrates leadership and commitment.

Deschamps Responds

French coach Didier Deschamps addressed the concerns in a press conference:

“Kylian Mbappé injured? He had a small problem, but nothing serious. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be here.”

Deschamps emphasized that neither he nor the medical staff would risk the fitness of their key player, especially with a long season and the summer World Cup on the horizon.

With France nearly assured of qualification, the priority remains keeping Mbappé fit for the months ahead rather than pushing him in the current break.
