Arturo Vidal Reiterates His Displeasure with Real Madrid’s European Success

Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal has once again expressed his strong dislike for Real Madrid, with recent comments casting doubt on the integrity of the club’s recent European trophy victories.

Having previously played for Bayern Munich, Juventus, and Barcelona, Vidal has had ample opportunities to criticize Real Madrid, but he has found it frustratingly difficult to secure victories against them. In his career, the 36-year-old has won just four, drawn four, and lost eight matches against Los Blancos.

Vidal’s personal history with Real Madrid includes two red cards, particularly in a controversial manner in 2017. When discussing his experiences against the Spanish giants, Vidal remarked, “Sometimes I’m not sure in which exact game against Real Madrid… Against Real Madrid, I experienced so many robberies in my career that sometimes I forget details. They robbed my teams so many times.”

Furthermore, when asked to make comparisons between his former teammates, Vidal sided with Luis Suarez over Robert Lewandowski, stating, “Luis Suarez or Lewandowski? I don’t know if there will ever be a better striker than either of them. Lewandowski has many qualities, but I prefer Luis Suarez… Suarez has that ‘mischief’ that South American players have, something that Robert doesn’t have.”

Vidal’s sentiments, although not new, demonstrate his enduring grudge against Real Madrid, a team that prevented him from winning a UEFA Champions League title. Nevertheless, Vidal did achieve the feat of clinching the La Liga title against Real Madrid in 2019 during his time with Barcelona.
