Real Madrid Eyes Xabi Alonso as Potential Successor to Ancelotti
Real Madrid is reportedly considering its options following a disappointing loss to city rivals Atletico Madrid. Pressure is mounting on Carlo Ancelotti at the Santiago Bernabeu, even after just six games into the season.
RadioMarca has highlighted the poor performance in the 3-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid, exacerbated by the inclusion of both Luka Modric and Toni Kroos. According to Matias Prats, there is a clear frontrunner for the managerial position for next summer. Previously, it was reported that Ancelotti’s position was in jeopardy.
Their information suggests that Bayer Leverkusen Manager Xabi Alonso is the leading candidate to replace Ancelotti. Prats remarked, “Currently, he is their choice to be the manager next season,” as reported by Sport. If Real Madrid’s pursuit of Alonso doesn’t pan out, or if his successful Leverkusen team unexpectedly falters, Real Madrid Castilla Manager Raul Gonzalez is considered the backup option.
Ancelotti’s retention as manager over the summer came as a surprise, especially given the strong links to the Brazil national team job. However, if Ancelotti has lost the backing of key figures, including Florentino Perez, his chances of remaining in the position beyond the summer appear slim.
