Neither Theo Hernández nor Nico Paz: Real Madrid Working on Another Juicy Return

Theo y Nico en blanco y

Over the years, Real Madrid has had numerous top talents who, for various reasons, ended up leaving the club. While some of them have seen their form decline, others have managed to maintain or even exceed expectations as time has passed. This is the case with players like Theo Hernández and Nico Paz, both currently shining in Serie A.

Although both players have been linked with a possible return to Real Madrid, the club now seems focused on another standout talent. Álvaro Carreras is the player who has generated strong interest from Real Madrid ahead of the upcoming transfer window. His performances at Benfica have showcased his potential to become one of the best in his position.

Having come through Real Madrid’s youth academy years ago, his past connection with the club could facilitate a potential transfer. Still, the club is currently evaluating the feasibility of a deal that would undoubtedly strengthen the left-back position.

A Return to Real Madrid

At 22 years old, and in his very first season with Benfica, Álvaro Carreras has managed to stand out thanks to his talent. Having played 4,092 minutes this season, Carreras has been key to Benfica’s strong campaign. Known for his pace, as well as his defensive and attacking qualities, he is a very complete full-back.

Although his contract with Benfica runs until 2029, Real Madrid is interested in signing him this summer. With Ferland Mendy and Fran García underperforming, Real Madrid sees Carreras as the ideal reinforcement for this important position.

While Theo Hernández was considered, the reality is that Carreras is younger and offers greater long-term potential. He perfectly fits the profile that Real Madrid has long been searching for. After years away, Carreras could return to Valdebebas.

A Priority for Real Madrid

Even though Real Madrid still has defensive issues to address, the signing of Álvaro Carreras would be a smart move. With several positions in need of renewal, Carreras has the potential to lock down the left flank for many years to come.
