Bellingham Scores and Reaches 26 Points: Closing in on Mbappé and Haaland
Jude Bellingham scored again against Villarreal, demonstrating great accuracy despite playing as a midfielder, and now finds himself in close competition with Mbappé and Haaland.
When Benzema left Real Madrid last summer and no forward arrived beyond Joselu, many thought that the team would face goal-scoring problems this season.
However, Bellingham has silenced many critics. Not only has he demonstrated the quality he possesses in his boots, but he has also become a prolific goal-scorer. With his goal against Villarreal last Sunday, he now has 13 goals in La Liga, allowing him to reach 26 points in the Golden Shoe standings.
In the Spanish league, each goal is multiplied by 2, while in other leagues it is multiplied by 1.5 based on the level of each competition. This places Bellingham at the top of the table.
Mbappé and Haaland within reach His position at the top is such that Mbappé or Haaland are very close behind with 32 and 28 points, respectively. This is a significant achievement considering that we are talking about top strikers and Bellingham is a midfielder.
His achievement is remarkable, to the point that it’s not unthinkable that Bellingham could end up as the top scorer in La Liga. Currently, he is 3 goals ahead of the second-placed players, Mayoral and Dovbyk.
However, it seems more challenging for him to compete for the Golden Shoe, as Kane currently leads with 40 points. Although there is a considerable gap, it’s worth noting that Bellingham is competing with forwards while playing as a midfielder.
