Modrić Receives an Offer from a LaLiga Club — The Croatian Responds

Luka Modric.

Luka Modrić is set to bid farewell to Real Madrid after the upcoming Club World Cup, even though his original intention was to stay one more season in order to be in top shape for the 2026 World Cup.

Now 39 years old, Modrić plans to extend his playing career, and clubs are beginning to show interest — including, quite surprisingly, a team from LaLiga: Getafe CF.

🇪🇸 Getafe Dreaming of Luka Modrić

According to Radio MARCA, Getafe, led by president Ángel Torres, is reportedly willing to offer Modrić the one-year contract he’s looking for. The move would allow the Croatian legend to remain in Madrid, where he and his family are settled and happy — avoiding the hassle of relocating to another country.

While it’s hard to imagine Modrić wearing any shirt other than Real Madrid’s in Spain, Getafe appears to be serious about this surprising possibility.

📊 Modrić’s Still Got It

Despite his age, Modrić continues to perform at a high level. In the current season, he has made 56 appearances, scoring 4 goals and providing 9 assists. These stats — along with his iconic status — make him an attractive prospect, even for top-tier teams.

Getafe would need to weigh financial factors, especially his salary, but the sporting benefits and off-field visibility of signing Modrić could make it worth the investment.

🏆 A Legend’s Legacy

Luka Modrić joined Real Madrid in 2012 from Tottenham and will leave as the most decorated player in the club’s history, with a staggering 28 titles, including:

  • 6 Champions League trophies
  • 6 Club World Cups
  • 5 UEFA Super Cups
  • 4 LaLiga titles
  • 2 Copa del Rey wins
  • 5 Spanish Super Cups

He also won the Ballon d’Or in 2018, breaking the Messi-Ronaldo duopoly.

And with the Club World Cup still to come, Modrić has the chance to make it 29 titles before saying goodbye to the Bernabéu.
