Transfer ‘Guru’ Predicts Nico Williams Will Join Real Madrid This Summer

Despite mixed reports, Real Madrid is seriously considering the Athletic Club winger to boost their attack—with a bold prediction already made last year
Real Madrid has been working intensively for weeks on the planning of next season, with a sharp eye on the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. With FIFA President Gianni Infantino promising a potential prize of over €100 million for the tournament winner, club president Florentino Pérez has moved quickly to strengthen the squad. The first confirmed signing is Dean Huijsen, but in recent hours, another name has resurfaced prominently: Nico Williams.
According to Marca, the club’s top executives at the Santiago Bernabéu are seriously considering the addition of the younger Williams brother to revitalize their attack after a turbulent and underwhelming campaign. Nico was already on Madrid’s radar last summer but was ruled out following the acquisition of Kylian Mbappé.
Last summer, Williams was Barcelona’s top transfer target. Athletic Club’s explosive winger was touted by Joan Laporta as a future star in the Blaugrana shirt—especially during and after the Euros. However, the transfer never materialized, and Barcelona eventually opted for Dani Olmo, another standout from the Spanish national team.
No one at Real Madrid has publicly commented on their current interest in Nico Williams, but several conditions would have to be met for the deal to happen—starting with player departures. Specifically, the potential exit of Rodrygo Goes. Real Madrid already has three high-profile left-wingers: Rodrygo, Vinícius Júnior, and Mbappé. For Williams to join, it’s likely that Rodrygo would need to leave. While both Vinícius and Mbappé have been confirmed as part of next season’s squad, Rodrygo’s future remains uncertain.
Gallardo’s Bold Prediction Resurfaces
While some well-known journalists, including Siro López and Joaquín Maroto, have downplayed or denied Madrid’s interest in Williams, many Real Madrid fans have responded to the news with a mix of surprise and excitement. This excitement has only grown following the viral resurfacing of a prediction made by transfer pundit François Gallardo.
Last year, Gallardo boldly claimed that Nico Williams would not end up at Barcelona—as many were expecting—but would instead sign for Real Madrid in the 2025/2026 season. On social media platform X, Gallardo declared:
“Nico Williams will NOT go to Barcelona. The only club he’ll say YES to is Real Madrid, and that will be in the 2025-2026 season. Always ahead, the rest… at the back of the line. End of story. If not—prove me wrong!”
Gallardo, known for his appearances on Punto Pelota and El Chiringuito de Jugones, has developed a reputation over the years for predicting major transfers, and he now appears regularly on some Catalan TV shows.
While nothing is official yet, all eyes are on Madrid as they weigh the decision to bring in one of Spain’s most exciting young talents—potentially fulfilling a prophecy made months ago.
