The Star Who Could Join Xabi Alonso at Real Madrid – A Top German Player

This Bayer Leverkusen player might follow Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid
All signs point to Xabi Alonso becoming Real Madrid’s new head coach. With Carlo Ancelotti seemingly living his final days on the bench, the former Madrid midfielder looks set to take over next season.
And now it seems that one of Xabi’s trusted players could follow him to Madrid and also sign for the club.

Jonathan Tah could join Real Madrid
According to journalist Mario Cortegana, various sources indicate that Jonathan Tah, the German central defender from Bayer Leverkusen, could transfer to Real Madrid alongside Xabi Alonso.
The good news about this potential deal is that the 29-year-old’s contract expires this summer, meaning he could arrive as a free agent.
Tah currently has a market value of around €30 million, and signing him without a transfer fee would be a great financial move for the club.
So far this season, he has played 46 matches, accumulating over 4,000 minutes, and has been a key figure in Xabi Alonso’s defense—a role he could replicate at Madrid.

The need to sign a central defender
Next season, Real Madrid will have four central defenders on the first-team roster: Rüdiger, Militão, Alaba, and Asencio (who is expected to be promoted with a first-team contract).
The problem is, David Alaba is injured again, and there are serious doubts about his recovery. Militão will be returning from a long-term injury, and it’s unclear how he will perform. Rüdiger, the most reliable of the bunch, has just undergone surgery, and it’s worth noting he is also aging.
So, while the squad may be numerically complete, the actual reliability and fitness levels raise concerns. On top of that, some of these players are on high wages, making a free transfer like Tah’s highly attractive.
