Lautaro Martinez’s Firm Commitment to Inter Dashes Real Madrid’s Number Nine Hopes
Real Madrid’s quest for a star-quality number nine continues, with Kylian Mbappe dominating the transfer rumors. However, one of the few names linked to Los Blancos, Rodrygo Goes, has dismissed the idea of filling that role, while Joselu Mato seems like a long shot for significant matches.
In contrast, Inter’s Lautaro Martinez, a promising candidate, has firmly declared his loyalty to his current club. Speaking at the Ballon d’Or ceremony, he made it clear that his heart is with Inter. “Real Madrid? Obviously, we are talking about a very big team, but my head and my heart are always turned towards Inter,” Martinez emphasized.
He expressed his contentment with life in Milan, saying, “I feel good with my family in Milan and I just want to take Inter as high as possible and continue winning trophies,” in a conversation with Ibai Llanos on Twitch, as reported by Marca.
Martinez’s potential addition to Real Madrid would be a substantial boost, given his mobility, versatility, and ability to connect with teammates. Despite occasional doubts about his goal-scoring prowess, Martinez has maintained an average of around 30 goal contributions over the past two seasons, and this season alone, he has scored 12 goals and provided 2 assists in 14 games.
While Kylian Mbappe remains the primary candidate to fill the number nine position left vacant by Karim Benzema, Real Madrid is undoubtedly exploring alternative options, should the Mbappe pursuit prove unsuccessful.
