Zidane Expresses Desire to Coach Kylian Mbappe: Real Madrid or France?
Zinedine Zidane, the legendary figure of Real Madrid, has openly expressed his delight at the prospect of coaching one of the club’s most coveted transfer targets, Kylian Mbappe.
The future of Mbappe remains uncertain, with a departure from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) appearing increasingly likely, either during this summer or the next. Zidane, speaking at an EA event and reported by Marca, admitted his eagerness to coach the French superstar.
“As a coach, when you have a player like him, of course, you want to coach him. Many things can happen. It could happen one day. He is a player who embodies the French national team. I admire what he does. He is beautiful, he is strong,” explained Zidane.
Zidane’s comments suggest his openness to two potential destinations. Having already managed Real Madrid twice, the possibility of a third stint at the helm could arise if Mbappe eventually makes his way to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Alternatively, and perhaps more probable, Zidane’s desire to coach Mbappe might be directed towards the French national team. Although Didier Deschamps is currently in charge until the end of the 2026 World Cup, Zidane had previously been strongly linked to the position.
While Zidane’s remarks may have been spontaneous, his expressed interest in coaching Mbappe could be seen as a natural response for any coach. However, the phrase “It could happen one day” hints at an underlying desire, and given Zidane’s media experience, it raises the possibility of a potential union between the two.
The future holds intriguing possibilities for Mbappe and Zidane, and fans will eagerly await how these desires and circumstances unfold in the coming seasons.
