Xabi Alonso, who had already requested Arda Güler’s loan to Bayer Leverkusen last summer, has reportedly played a key role in blocking the Turkish youngster’s departure in the current transfer window. Güler had been planning to leave on loan if Carlo Ancelotti remained in charge of Real Madrid.
“Arda asked to leave on loan if Ancelotti stayed. Even though ‘Carletto’ gave him more minutes toward the end of the season, the decision had been made for the next campaign. Now Xabi Alonso has personally requested that Güler stay at the club and has full confidence in his potential to become a world-class star in the near future,” revealed journalist Eduardo Inda from OK Diario on El Chiringuito.
