Vinicius’ Agency Encounters a Serious Obstacle to Signing

Vinicius Junior3

After he started on the bench against Elche (2–2), in what was Real Madrid’s third setback in a row, Vinícius Júnior remains in the headlines. The player accepted Xabi Alonso’s technical decision against the Alicante side politely, although—as reported by Defensa Central—he did let the coach know that he was available to play. Xabi felt that, after the international break, it was a good moment to give minutes to those who had featured less so far, but the debate surrounding their relationship has once again resurfaced. Now Vinicius’ entourage has brought up new issues regarding his contract renewal with the club.

According to journalist Romain Molina, Madrid has no intention of extending Vinicius’ contract based on the salary he has demanded. Molina claims that no club in Europe is interested in paying the wages requested by the Brazilian’s agency, Roc Nation. Although he does not specify the amount, he adds that Vini’s agents, Frederico Pena and Tata Soares, do not have any formal agreement with Saudi Arabia’s football sphere, though they may be applying pressure by leaking information to various media outlets.

This newspaper already reported in the spring that renewal talks had stalled after the player requested figures that Florentino Pérez—who has always defended the winger—was not willing to meet. We later learned that his representatives may have requested a net annual salary of 30 million euros, something not even Cristiano Ronaldo earned during his final years at the Santiago Bernabéu. Madrid was willing to reach 20 million, but never go beyond that and risk the club’s financial structure.

Everything Open for Vinicius

Just days after the new AS director, José Félix Díaz, suggested that Vini’s renewal was on the right track, a new chapter has now opened regarding the Brazilian. We will have to wait and see how the coming months—and perhaps the current season—play out. The player’s contract ends in 2027, and his release clause is set at 1 billion euros—figures that are enormous even for the Middle East. Everything remains open for the player who, as always, will have the final say.

Vinicius’ current market value is 150 million euros, according to Transfermarkt. This would be the minimum price for which Madrid could consider selling him, provided he asks to leave. At the moment, Vini is fully established and a major asset for the club, but no one is forced to stay. This is Florentino’s philosophy, and the same principle has always prevailed during his time at Real Madrid.
