To Real Madrid, Arsenal or United: €52 million for Germany’s new jewel
Sport Bild reports that Real Madrid are targeting a new left-back… unless the Premier League gets in the way.
Real Madrid are reportedly considering the signing of a new left-back for next season. The club would need to spend just over €50 million to secure Nathaniel Brown, Eintracht Frankfurt’s promising young full-back. At 22, he has attracted attention from several Premier League giants, and Real Madrid are well aware of his talent—to the point that they may bring him in to create strong competition for Álvaro Carreras in the coming years.
Alongside Real Madrid, both Arsenal and Manchester United have been closely monitoring Brown for months. His departure in 2026 is seen as almost inevitable, as Eintracht aim to cash in on the 22-year-old, who made his debut for the German national team this year.
Real Madrid’s plan is to move for him as long as the price doesn’t skyrocket, with the idea that Brown and Carreras would compete directly for the starting spot on the left flank. At the moment, Xabi Alonso has Ferland Mendy and Fran García in addition to the Galician youngster, but the club considers both to be expendable and likely to be sold in the summer. The funds generated from their departures would be used to finance the arrival of a higher-level left-back.

Real Madrid still looking for Marcelo’s heir
Since Marcelo’s departure, the club has struggled to find a left-back capable of cementing a long-term place in the starting XI. Mendy has had strong spells, but it’s difficult to compare him with the Brazilian, whose attacking contribution was on another level.
Álvaro Carreras has arrived with energy and determination, but the club still believes he has a long way to go before he can reach Marcelo’s standard. And they have no hesitation in increasing the competition by potentially signing another left-back. The more competition, the better.
Great players always rise to the top, and Real Madrid believe Carreras currently has a relatively “easy” path to becoming a starter. Mendy offers a very different profile, and Fran García is far from the level of the former Benfica player. For this reason, bringing in another left-back is not seen as excessive, and Real Madrid will seriously consider Nathaniel Brown if an opportunity arises. Much will depend on how high the bidding goes, especially with the Premier League’s financial power in the mix.
