Tensions Exposed Between International Teammate and Real Madrid Star
Antonio Rüdiger’s Exuberant Personality Sparks Dispute in German National Team
Real Madrid star Antonio Rüdiger has garnered a positive reception from the majority of the Spanish capital, but his exuberant personality has rubbed some, including his German national team teammates, the wrong way.
The Amazon Prime documentary series ‘All or Nothing,’ which focuses on die Mannschaft during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, has shed light on a dispute between Rüdiger and Joshua Kimmich during a training session, as recounted by Marca.
Kimmich, the Bayern Munich midfielder, clashed with Rüdiger during the session, expressing his frustration, saying, “You never say it to my face, you always say it behind my back. Do you think I don’t play for the team?”
Rüdiger responded, “They tell you things, they give you instructions…”
Kimmich retorted, “You always tell me ‘do what you want,’ and then you end up telling me the opposite.”
Harmony within the German squad was strained during the Qatar tournament, especially after they suffered a shocking early exit in the group stages, including a significant upset against Japan. Given the challenging circumstances, it’s unsurprising that tempers flared.
Kimmich and Rüdiger have a history of clashes, with the former taking exception to a challenge from the Berlin-born defender. Despite the tensions in the national team, Rüdiger appears to enjoy popularity among his Real Madrid teammates. Following Eder Militao’s anterior cruciate ligament injury, Rüdiger is poised to play a pivotal role for Real Madrid this season.
