Sergio Ramos Offers Sincere Apology to Sevilla Fans for Past Celebrations

During his tenure as a Real Madrid player, Sergio Ramos was often seen celebrating goals against Sevilla. However, he has now extended a heartfelt apology to the Sevilla fans who may have been offended by his actions.

One such instance occurred in 2017 when Ramos responded to abuse from Sevilla fans after a 3-3 draw in the Copa Del Rey. At the time, he explained his actions by stating, “It doesn’t [usually] occur to me to celebrate a goal at my home club, but when people shout things about your mother, they don’t deserve respect.”

Ramos also called for action to address the behavior of a section of Sevilla’s fanbase: “The Sevilla fans do [deserve respect], though. The president should take steps to stop a sector of the fans from tarnishing Sevilla’s support.”

Now, during his unveiling as a new Sevilla player, Ramos took the opportunity to extend his apology: “Today is a very special and exciting day for me. I’m finally back home and I’m looking forward to pulling the Sevilla shirt on again and playing for the badge again.”

Reflecting on his time away from the club, Ramos acknowledged his past mistakes: “It’s been 18 years since I left, and I think I’ve made mistakes. I want to take this opportunity to apologize for them in person and to say sorry to any Sevilla fan who has been offended by things I might have done or gestures I might have made at any point.”

He emphasized unity among fans, players, and the club: “I think we are all in the same boat and we are all part of the same family.”
