Real Madrid’s TV Channel Accuses Referee of Biased Officiating in Madrid Derby

Real Madrid’s dedicated television channel, RMTV, has strongly criticized referee Alberola Rojas for his officiating in the recent Madrid derby against Atletico Madrid. They believe the referee’s decisions heavily favored Atletico and affected the outcome of the game.

RMTV pointed to three key incidents that they took issue with. The first was the disallowed goal that would have leveled the score at 2-2, involving Eduardo Camavinga’s apparent tap-in. They argued that Antonio Rudiger was wrongly penalized for interfering in the play, as the ball passed well away from him and Mario Hermoso, without mentioning Hermoso’s actions.

RMTV also claimed that there was a foul on Jude Bellingham in the build-up to Atletico’s first goal and expressed their frustration that the referee did not make the call, even without the assistance of VAR.

Furthermore, they argued that Atletico Madrid’s Jose Maria Gimenez should have been shown a red card for his challenge on Rodrygo Goes, which only resulted in a yellow card. They emphasized that the regulations punish not only the harshness but also the intention of the action.

RMTV expressed discontent with the officiating system in Spanish football and raised concerns about potential biases and corruption. They contended that the referee’s association had been influenced by individuals with ties to clubs and called for more transparency and accountability in officiating.

It’s worth noting that former referees Eduardo Iturralde Gonzalez and Antonio Mateu Lahoz defended the referee’s decisions, stating that Alberola was correct in his calls. The controversy surrounding the potential foul on Bellingham did not gain as much attention in their assessment.
