Real Madrid’s Struggles with Injuries Deepen Ahead of Showdown with Barcelona

Real Madrid’s Injury Woes Continue as Dani Ceballos Expected to Miss El Clasico

Real Madrid is grappling with an increasingly challenging injury crisis this season, despite being only midway through October. Notably, Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao are set to miss a significant portion, if not the entirety, of the campaign due to injuries. Additionally, summer signing Arda Guler has yet to make his debut, plagued by a series of fitness setbacks, and several other players have spent time sidelined.

Among those sidelined is Dani Ceballos, the Spanish midfielder who made a significant impression last season and secured a contract extension with the club. Unfortunately, Ceballos sustained an injury during pre-season, delaying his start to the campaign. He had recently returned and was beginning to see some minutes off the bench. However, he has encountered yet another fitness setback.

According to reports from The Athletic, Ceballos is expected to miss the upcoming El Clasico clash against Barcelona due to a muscle injury. He has suffered a minor micro tear in the rectus muscle of his right leg.

While the injury is considered minor, Ceballos is likely to spend seven to ten days on the sidelines, causing him to miss several critical matches. He was notably absent from Real Madrid’s squad for the recent game against Sevilla, which ended in a 1-1 draw. It is uncertain whether he will be fit in time for the upcoming fixtures against SC Braga and Barcelona.

Though Ceballos was not anticipated to be a starter in the El Clasico, his presence in the squad would have provided Carlo Ancelotti with an additional option. The Italian manager values the Spaniard’s contributions, often employing him as a substitute, underscoring his significance to the team.
