Real Madrid’s Striker Search: Kane Links Fade as PSG and Bayern Munich Emerge as Front-Runners
Real Madrid finds themselves in dire need of a world-class striker following Karim Benzema’s departure to Al-Ittihad at the end of last season. Benzema, the current Ballon d’Or holder, had been the primary source of goals for Los Blancos over the past five seasons, leaving behind significant shoes to fill at the Santiago Bernabeu.
While Real Madrid secured the loan signing of Joselu this summer, the Spaniard, despite his recent impressive performances, may not be the ideal candidate to lead the line if the club intends to compete for major trophies in the upcoming season. The only other striking option available is 18-year-old Alvaro, who has limited experience at the senior level.
Previously, Real Madrid was linked with Harry Kane as a potential replacement for Benzema. The Englishman’s status as one of the world’s best strikers made him an attractive target. However, recent weeks have seen rumors fade, with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) emerging as front-runners in the race for Kane’s signature.
According to RMC Sport, PSG has been actively pursuing Kane, engaging in discussions with Tottenham Hotspur Chairman Daniel Levy and the player’s representatives. PSG is reportedly prepared to offer close to €100 million, a sum that could satisfy Tottenham’s demands.
The outcome of the Kane transfer saga remains uncertain, particularly with his current contract set to expire next summer. Aside from PSG, Bayern Munich has also expressed interest, reportedly submitting two transfer offers for the England national captain. Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s prospects of securing Kane’s services appear increasingly unlikely.
