Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu to Get a Revamped Metro Station Alongside Stadium Upgrade
Real Madrid’s iconic Santiago Bernabeu stadium is in for a major transformation, not only on the pitch but also off it, as a renovated metro station will complement the stadium’s new look.
According to Marca, the regional government of Madrid is set to open the bidding process for this ambitious project, which is estimated to cost €70 million and is expected to take approximately three years to complete. The stadium itself is on track to be finished by the end of 2023, following the recent addition of a retractable roof during the summer.
Work on the metro station, named after the stadium, is scheduled to commence in the first four months of 2024, with an anticipated completion date in 2027. The renovations will significantly expand the station’s area and will feature an additional 12 lifts and 24 escalators to enhance fan transportation. Moreover, the revamped metro station will be adorned with Real Madrid branding and colors, creating a distinctive connection to the club.
Additionally, the Santiago Bernabeu will undergo a substantial underground parking expansion, valued at €561 million, resulting in an additional 2,000 parking spaces. The construction contract for this project has been awarded to Real Madrid Estadio, a company owned by the club and the sole bidder for the project.
These infrastructure enhancements reflect Real Madrid’s commitment to creating a world-class stadium experience for fans and visitors alike, both within and outside the iconic Santiago Bernabeu.
