Real Madrid’s Pursuit of Harry Kane: A Departure from Their Transfer Strategy
While Real Madrid has been thriving with Jude Bellingham emerging as their primary goal-scoring threat, it’s worth noting that they initially sought to replace Karim Benzema with a more traditional forward during the summer.
According to reports from The Athletic, Harry Kane garnered interest from several top clubs, including Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid, before ultimately making a move to Bayern Munich. Real Madrid was reportedly keen on Kane just a week before Benzema’s departure, with Carlo Ancelotti championing the cause at the Santiago Bernabeu.
However, they fell short of persuading Daniel Levy at Tottenham Hotspur to part ways with Kane. Bayern eventually secured the services of the 30-year-old striker for a fee of €100 million, whereas Real Madrid’s bid only reached €69 million.
On paper, signing Kane would have made sense, especially with Joselu Mato as their sole recognized forward heading into the season. However, such a move would have marked a significant departure from Real Madrid’s recent transfer strategy. Following the challenging acquisition of Eden Hazard during his prime years, Los Blancos have focused their investments on younger talents like Aurelien Tchouameni and Bellingham.
