Real Madrid’s Injury Update: Ceballos and Mendy Return to Training
Real Madrid’s injury concerns could see some relief in the near future, as two players have returned to training sessions on Wednesday.
Dani Ceballos, who had been sidelined with a tendon muscle tear suffered during preseason, has begun light individual training after more than a month of recovery. Although he is not expected to feature in the upcoming game against Celta Vigo on Friday, sources suggest he might be in contention for the match against Getafe on September 2nd.
Ferland Mendy, who experienced a thigh muscle issue during the Clasico friendly in the USA, has also resumed training. Like Ceballos, he will likely miss the Celta Vigo clash, but his return could be anticipated for the Getafe encounter.
Despite their recoveries, it is improbable that Ceballos would immediately reclaim a starting spot in the squad. Fierce competition, with players like Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, has altered the assuredness of positions in the lineup.
In contrast, Mendy faces a positional rivalry with Fran Garcia. As Mendy aims to prove his capabilities to Carlo Ancelotti, it seems the competition for the left-back role leans toward Garcia, at least for now.
