Real Madrid’s Double Move: Alexander-Arnold Secured, Konaté Targeted for €40M
Real Madrid is set to pull off a historic 2-for-1 transfer deal this summer, targeting two Liverpool stars to reinforce their squad for the next season.
The first signing is already secured: Trent Alexander-Arnold will join the club on a free transfer after deciding to leave Liverpool. However, the Spanish giants are not stopping there—they are now focused on bringing in Ibrahima Konaté to strengthen their central defense.
Konaté on Madrid’s Radar
According to journalist Ekrem Konur, Liverpool is currently working to extend Konaté’s contract, but the interest from Real Madrid and PSG could influence his decision. Konur stated:
“Liverpool continues negotiations for Konaté’s contract renewal. However, the interest from European giants like PSG and Real Madrid is a key factor in his future. The club expects him to renegotiate with his agents and agree to an extension soon.”
Konaté’s current contract expires in 2026, meaning Liverpool might be forced to sell him this summer rather than risk losing him for a lower fee later. Real Madrid could sign him for around €40 million, a reasonable price for a top-tier center-back.
Madrid’s Defensive Revamp
The need for defensive reinforcements is crucial for Real Madrid. Éder Militão has suffered two ACL injuries in just over a year, while David Alaba has only recently recovered from a similar long-term injury.
Despite the emergence of Raúl Asencio as a promising option, Madrid’s backline needs depth and reliability, making Konaté a top priority for the club.
Alexander-Arnold: A Solution for the Right Flank
With Trent Alexander-Arnold already secured, Madrid has addressed a major weakness at right-back. Lucas Vázquez has struggled defensively, while Dani Carvajal’s long-term injury has left the position exposed.
Although Alexander-Arnold is known more for his attacking qualities, his arrival will add depth and versatility to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.
A Blow to Liverpool’s Champions League Hopes
If Madrid completes the signing of both Alexander-Arnold and Konaté, it would be a major setback for Liverpool in their pursuit of Champions League glory. The loss of two key defensive players could leave Arne Slot’s side vulnerable next season.
With one deal already done and another in progress, Real Madrid’s summer strategy is shaping up to be a masterclass in squad building.
