Real Madrid will violate Financial Fair Play if they’re crazy enough to pay €350m+ to get Mbappe.
According to Marca, Kylian Mbappe has demanded a staggering €240m salary if he is to leave Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) this summer. This exorbitant demand is one of the reasons why Real Madrid has decided against pursuing the talented forward. The Spanish club views Mbappe as a player trapped by money in Paris, based on the decisions he has made in recent times.
In 2022, Mbappe chose to remain at PSG, opting for a lucrative salary rather than joining Real Madrid as a free agent and taking his career to new heights.
Reports indicate that if Mbappe stays at PSG this summer, he will earn a loyalty bonus of €90m in addition to his gross salary of approximately €100m. Thus, by staying in Paris, he stands to pocket around €200m.
Looking ahead to 2024, Mbappe is set to receive an enormous sign-on bonus that could potentially reach €200m if he leaves PSG as a free agent.
Considering Mbappe’s salary demands, Real Madrid would not only have to pay his transfer fee but also fulfill his reported €240m salary request if they were to sign him this summer.
Following their €103m acquisition of Jude Bellingham, Real Madrid would breach Financial Fair Play regulations if they were to go ahead and pay over €350m for Mbappe. This financial constraint serves as a deterrent to the club pursuing the signing.
