Real Madrid Secure Turkish Talent Arda Guler, Outmaneuvering Barcelona in Transfer Battle
Real Madrid appears poised to win another transfer battle against Barcelona, as they reportedly reach an agreement with Turkish talent Arda Guler.
Just on Monday, it seemed that Barcelona had the upper hand in the pursuit of Guler. However, late on Monday night, the situation took a turn. While Fenerbahce wished for Guler to stay with the club for another year, which Barcelona was willing to accommodate, the teenager expressed his desire to make an immediate move.
According to Diario AS, Real Madrid President Florentino Perez had a phone conversation with Guler, during which the young player simply requested a higher salary than what he would earn at Fenerbahce. Real Madrid’s offer is expected to surpass all other offers on the table.
The deal is set to involve an initial fee of €20 million (above his €17.5 million release clause), with an additional €8 million in variables. Guler will sign a six-year contract with Real Madrid, and an official announcement is anticipated this week, as both parties review the contractual details.
Real Madrid will view this acquisition as further evidence of their market prowess and ability to secure the signatures of the world’s most promising young talents. Their strategic shift in approach from a few years ago is paying dividends, as talented youngsters increasingly see Real Madrid as an ideal environment to grow and develop their skills. This perception provides the club with an advantage beyond their competitors.
