Real Madrid President Favors Pursuit of €60 Million Player
Real Madrid President Florentino Perez is reportedly leaning towards a move for Takefusa Kubo over Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams. With a reported €50 million release clause, Williams has been linked with Real Madrid, but Perez is said to favor the return of Kubo to strengthen the squad.
Takefusa Kubo, formerly a Real Madrid player, joined Real Sociedad in the summer of 2022. Despite struggling to secure a spot in the first team at Santiago Bernabeu, Kubo has demonstrated significant improvement at Real Sociedad and is considered one of La Liga’s standout performers.
Real Madrid has a history of bringing back former players, with Fran Garcia returning last summer. In Kubo’s case, it is speculated that there is a release clause of approximately €60 million in his contract with Real Sociedad. However, Real Madrid reportedly holds a 50% sell-on clause for the Japanese winger.
Perez may consider reacquiring Kubo at a reduced cost, potentially around €30 million, taking advantage of the sell-on clause. This strategic move aligns with Real Madrid’s ongoing efforts to strengthen their squad and address depth issues, particularly in attacking positions.
