Real Madrid President Boycotts El Clasico After Controversial Insult Aimed at Vinicius Junior
Real Madrid’s President, Florentino Perez, has taken a stand by refusing to attend El Clasico following a derogatory comment made about Vinicius Junior by Barcelona Board of Directors’ deputy spokesperson, Miguel Camps.
Camps had publicly referred to Vinicius as a “clown” and suggested he deserved a slap in a tweet. While the tweet was later deleted, it had already spread widely, causing public outrage.
Despite calls for Camps to be dismissed for his inappropriate remarks, Barcelona did not heed these demands. However, their Vice President, Rafa Yuste, expressed regret over the incident and vowed that such comments would not be repeated.
Regarding the incident, Yuste stated, “The tweet by Miguel? Even if it was a mistake, it did not have to be done. It is an unfortunate tweet. If you are listening to me, Vini, it will not be repeated.”
Although Real Madrid did not issue an official response to the situation, President Perez is taking a firm stance by boycotting the ceremonial El Clasico dinner on Friday night and the match on Saturday. This decision underscores the intensified rivalry between Spain’s most prominent football clubs.
