Real Madrid Prepared to Splash €230 Million on Kylian Mbappe, Refusing Negotiations with PSG
Real Madrid remains steadfast in their pursuit of Kylian Mbappe for the upcoming summer transfer window but has no intention of engaging in negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
Throughout the recent transfer window, Los Blancos firmly declined any negotiations with PSG, even as the French club sought to facilitate Mbappe’s exit. Subsequently, tensions between Mbappe and PSG have eased, with the forward returning to action and reportedly in discussions regarding a new contract.
This proposed new contract may potentially include a release clause, allowing Mbappe to depart for a reduced fee while still generating revenue for PSG. However, Sport reports that Real Madrid is committed to securing a pre-contract agreement with Mbappe in January.
Real Madrid has exhibited their willingness, at least during the summer, to commit €230 million towards Mbappe’s wages and signing-on fee to secure his arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu. Despite PSG’s efforts to convince Mbappe to sign a new deal, they intend to seek a written agreement this time, rather than relying solely on verbal assurances.
The Spanish giants have made space for Mbappe within their squad, refraining from pursuing another star forward following Karim Benzema’s departure and keeping the number nine shirt vacant in anticipation of his arrival. However, considering Mbappe’s unexpected change of heart during the previous transfer window, caution prevails among Real Madrid’s faithful until the moment he is officially unveiled.
