Real Madrid Fans Eager for Former Player’s Return as Manager
Carlo Ancelotti often goes underappreciated for his exceptional work at Real Madrid during his second stint at the club. Leading a squad with limited depth to the top of the La Liga table after four matchdays, winning all of the games so far, is a remarkable achievement.
Last season, Real Madrid clinched the Copa del Rey, secured a second-place finish in La Liga, and reached the UEFA Champions League semi-finals. However, by the club’s lofty standards, it was considered a somewhat mediocre campaign.
The squad’s lack of depth and the multitude of injuries they had to contend with throughout the season must also be acknowledged. It’s arguable that Ancelotti’s team overachieved under the circumstances.
Nevertheless, it appears that Ancelotti’s tenure in the Real Madrid hot seat is coming to a close. It is widely anticipated that he will depart when his current contract expires at the end of the season, with strong speculation linking him to the role of Brazil’s national team manager.
The question then arises: Who will succeed Ancelotti at Santiago Bernabeu?
Many Real Madrid supporters believe that Xabi Alonso would be the ideal choice. Alonso, who spent five years as a player with Los Blancos, also began his coaching career by managing the club’s youth teams.
Since then, Alonso has made significant strides in management. He currently serves as the head coach of Bayer Leverkusen, his first top-level managerial role. Alonso took over midway through last season and oversaw a remarkable turnaround. In the current season, Leverkusen is perched atop the Bundesliga table after winning their first three games.
Given his ties to Real Madrid and his promising start in management, it’s easy to understand why many fans are eager to see Xabi Alonso take the reins at Santiago Bernabeu.
