Real Madrid Eyes Future Squad Upgrades: Newcastle United Duo on Radar
Real Madrid is currently undergoing a transition phase, with the older generation of players making way for a younger, world-class talent pool within the squad. While the future squad is slowly taking shape, there are still some gaps that need addressing to ensure the club’s status as one of Europe’s best.
In pursuit of squad enhancements, Real Madrid is reportedly considering potential transfer targets, and two players from Newcastle United have recently piqued their interest.
According to reports from Defensa Central (via Mirror), Real Madrid has dispatched chief scout Juni Calafat to monitor Kylian Mbappe when he faces Newcastle United. However, in addition to keeping tabs on Mbappe, Calafat will also closely assess the performances of Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes.
Bruno Guimaraes is a name previously linked with Real Madrid, with the club believed to have been monitoring the midfielder since his time at Lyon. Given the current depth in midfield, it’s challenging to envision where he would fit in, but his potential signing might be a preparation for the future, considering the expected departures of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.
Real Madrid’s current need is a future number 9, and Isak could be the ideal candidate. The Swedish international previously played for Real Sociedad, crossing paths with the club.
While it remains uncertain whether Real Madrid will make a move for either or both of these players in the future, there is no doubt about their quality. Guimaraes could be viewed as a luxury signing, while Isak holds the potential to be an excellent long-term addition to the squad.
