Reports indicate that Real Madrid has curated a shortlist of potential candidates for the position. While Sevilla’s Yassine Bounou currently leads the list, other notable names include David de Gea, Giorgi Mamardashvili of Valencia, Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga, and Dominik Livakovic from Dinamo Zagreb.

However, recent reports from Sport reveal an additional contender: Illan Meslier from Leeds United. Carlo Ancelotti reportedly views Meslier as an appealing option, potentially favoring him over De Gea. Meslier’s inclusion aligns with a younger subset of goalkeepers, including Livakovic and Mamardashvili, showcasing Real Madrid’s interest in a fresh generation of talent.

The choice of Meslier, at 23 years old, stems from his attributes that mirror those of Courtois, including height, exceptional shot-stopping abilities, and adept footwork. Despite his relatively young age, Meslier boasts three seasons of experience in the Premier League with Leeds United.

With Leeds United’s relegation last season, the club is reportedly open to considering offers for Meslier, potentially making him available for around €20 million.
