The club officially simplifies the stadium’s name to “Bernabéu” amid a historic NFL event in Madrid

The Santiago Bernabéu Stadium is once again in the spotlight, as Real Madrid’s iconic home will host a historic NFL matchup this Sunday between the Miami Dolphins and the Washington Commanders.

This unprecedented event fulfills the words of club president Florentino Pérez, who recently stated:

“This is one of the most recognized and admired venues in the world. Magical moments have taken place here—moments that are difficult to describe but have elevated the history and legend of Real Madrid. The Bernabéu represents emotion; it is a meeting place for people united by a universal feeling—madridismo.”

A New Name for a New Era

However, alongside this high-profile event, Pérez has decided to officially rename the club’s stadium, dropping “Santiago” from its title. The venue will now simply be called “Bernabéu.”

This change, which has been gradually introduced over time, doesn’t come as a complete surprise. Still, it has stirred mixed reactions among fans—though most seem to view it positively.

Real Madrid took advantage of the NFL game to unveil the new stadium logo and branding, reflecting a modern image adapted to today’s world while maintaining respect for Santiago Bernabéu, the legendary president whose leadership transformed the club’s history.

The updated name and logo will soon appear on the main façade of the stadium along Madrid’s Paseo de la Castellana. However, fans will need to wait a little longer to see these changes fully implemented.
