Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Sevilla Compete for Turkish Talent Arda Guler
The Spanish sports scene is abuzz with the name of 18-year-old Turkish prodigy Arda Guler, as Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Sevilla vie to secure the services of the Fenerbahce playmaker.
Guler recently held a meeting with Barcelona’s prospective Sporting Director, Deco, giving the Blaugrana confidence in their pursuit of the young talent, despite fierce competition from clubs across Europe.
Turkish outlet Hurriyet reports that Guler is scheduled to meet with Fenerbahce President Ali Koc and coach Ismail Kartal on Monday. During this meeting, he will reveal his decision regarding his next club.
Earlier reports suggested that former Fenerbahce player and current Real Madrid ambassador Roberto Carlos, along with Emilio Butragueno, were planning to travel to Istanbul to meet Guler and present an offer. However, if the timeline in Turkey is any indication, Carlos might arrive too late to sway the deal.
While Guler remains open to considering various offers, including those from other interested clubs, Real Madrid may regret their delay in making the trip, especially if Guler ends up choosing Barcelona. Fenerbahce seems receptive to Barcelona’s proposal, indicating the possibility of Guler staying with his current club for another season.
