Real Madrid and Manchester United Target Young Portuguese Center-Back
Manchester United’s underwhelming start to the season has raised questions about their squad’s quality, making it likely that they will need to reinforce their ranks in future transfer windows. As they seek to strengthen their defense, one of their targets, Goncalo Inacio, has also captured the interest of Real Madrid.
Manchester United have faced several injury woes at center-back this season, which has made the position a priority for recruitment. The Red Devils are reportedly looking to add a quality center-back, and Inacio is on their radar. However, they will face strong competition for the Portuguese international, particularly from Real Madrid.
AS reports that Real Madrid is considering the possibility of signing Goncalo Inacio in either the January transfer window or next summer. Nevertheless, they will not be the only club vying for his services, as Manchester United has also expressed interest.
Goncalo Inacio, who currently plays for Sporting Lisbon, has made a name for himself in both domestic and international football, earning a place in the Portugal national team this year.
At 22 years of age, Inacio fits the profile that Real Madrid typically seeks in their transfer targets. He reportedly has a release clause of around €60 million in his contract with Sporting Lisbon.
Real Madrid is looking to make long-term additions to their center-back position as well. Several of their current defenders, including Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba, and Nacho Fernandez, are over 30 years old. In addition, Eder Militao’s torn ACL earlier this season raises concerns about his long-term fitness and availability.
