Real Madrid Among Five Clubs Rejecting Neymar Junior Opportunity
Brazilian football star Neymar Junior’s anticipated departure from Paris Saint-Germain appears to be set, with Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia emerging as his likely destination. Recent developments suggest that this might have been his primary option.
Reportedly, Neymar has given his approval for a two-year deal with Al Hilal, a move that would yield him approximately €200 million in salary, while PSG could pocket around €90 million in transfer fees.
Although Barcelona had been closely linked to Neymar, their financial constraints seem to have dimmed that prospect over the weekend. The Independent indicates that Barcelona showed interest, but executing the deal would have necessitated offloading at least four players to accommodate the salary adjustments.
Neymar was keen to continue his European journey and explored the interest of other top European clubs to make it possible. Notably, Real Madrid was one of the five clubs, alongside Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Manchester City, that opted not to pursue the 31-year-old. In addition to his substantial salary demands and injury history, these teams did not perceive him as a game-changing force at the highest level anymore.
While Neymar’s journey has encountered criticism, with his unfulfilled potential largely attributed to his decisions, there’s an undeniable sense of nostalgia tied to the idea of his departure from Europe without fully realizing his capabilities. On his best days, he undeniably ranks among the most electrifying players globally.
