Rafael Nadal Expresses Interest in Real Madrid Presidency

Tennis legend Rafael Nadal, a devoted Real Madrid fan, has revealed his aspirations to potentially become the president of the club in the future. The current President, Florentino Perez, at the age of 76, is reportedly considering succession plans after overseeing the completion of the Santiago Bernabeu renovation, which he views as his final major project.

Nadal candidly shared his thoughts on the possibility of becoming Real Madrid’s president during an interview with Movistar+:

“It’s not something that’s on my mind right now, I promise you that. Would I like to be? Yes, I think so. Now, at this point, it’s not something I’m thinking about for a number of reasons. We have the best president possible, but in life, you never know what you might think now and what you might think tomorrow.”

Nadal, while open to the idea, remains realistic about his capabilities and emphasized that he is not actively pursuing the position at the moment. He acknowledged that time will ultimately determine whether he is suited for such a role.

Addressing speculation that he had discussed the matter with Perez, Nadal clarified that they had not engaged in any conversations on the subject. Real Madrid’s presidential candidacy comes with specific criteria, including the requirement to provide a substantial bank guarantee (15% of the budget, likely exceeding €100 million), be a club member for at least 20 years, and hold Spanish nationality. These stringent prerequisites limit the pool of potential candidates, making Nadal one of the few who could meet these conditions if he decides to pursue the presidency in the future.
