PSG Eyeing Revenge by Targeting Real Madrid Stars
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) CEO Nasser Al-Khelaifi is preparing to face the possibility of losing Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid next summer, but he’s determined not to let the deal pass without a response. Much like Barcelona’s pursuit of Marco Verratti in 2016, PSG plans to strike back in the transfer market.
If Mbappe leaves for Real Madrid as a free agent, PSG aims to hit back by pursuing top talents at the Santiago Bernabeu, potentially creating a transfer saga that could rival Neymar’s move to PSG in 2017, which cost the French club €222 million and sent Barcelona into a period of turmoil.
According to OK Diario (via Sport), PSG has drawn up a shortlist of Real Madrid players they would consider targeting, seeking revenge in a similar fashion. The top names on their list include Rodrygo Goes and Vinicius Junior, who are versatile attackers capable of thriving in any team.
Additionally, PSG has its sights set on midfield dynamos Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Fede Valverde. All five players have long-term contracts with release clauses set at around €750 million, with the exception of Vinicius, whose contract status remains unknown.
To persuade these Real Madrid stars to make the move to Paris, PSG will need to overcome their strong allegiance to Real Madrid’s greatness and potentially offer enticing financial packages. However, Real Madrid will aim to avoid a misstep like Barcelona did with their reinvestment of the Neymar funds.
