PSG Eye Long-Time Real Madrid Target as Possible Mbappe Replacement
For several summer transfer windows, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Real Madrid have been linked, primarily due to the ongoing Kylian Mbappe transfer saga. Mbappe has been consistently associated with a move to Real Madrid for years, and with less than a year left on his contract with PSG, the rumors are likely to persist.
Mbappe has not signed a contract extension with PSG, and there’s a possibility he could leave the club as a free agent next summer. Losing their best player on a free transfer would be a significant setback for the Ligue 1 champions, necessitating squad strengthening.
In the event of Mbappe’s departure, PSG reportedly has its sights set on a long-time Real Madrid transfer target, Rayan Cherki, to bolster the squad for the 2024/2025 season. Cherki is considered one of the most promising young talents in French football and has been on Real Madrid’s radar for several years, dating back to Zinedine Zidane’s tenure as manager.
Cherki recently turned 20 and still has much room for development. If he continues to progress as expected, he could become one of the standout players of his generation. PSG appears to view him as a potential key piece to fill the void left by Mbappe’s potential departure.
