Official: Xabi Alonso is the New Real Madrid Coach

Real Madrid has officially confirmed that Xabi Alonso will take over as head coach starting June 1, 2025, signing a contract that runs until June 30, 2028.

“Real Madrid C. F. announces that Xabi Alonso will be the coach of Real Madrid for the next three seasons, from June 1, 2025, to June 30, 2028.

Xabi Alonso is one of the greatest legends of Real Madrid and world football. He wore our shirt in 236 official matches between 2009 and 2014. During that time, he won 6 titles: La Décima (10th UEFA Champions League title) in Lisbon, 1 UEFA Super Cup, 1 La Liga, 2 Copa del Rey titles, and 1 Spanish Super Cup.

Xabi Alonso is also a legend of the Spanish national team, with whom he won 1 World Cup (2010) and 2 European Championships (2008, 2012), earning 113 caps.

He began his coaching career in Real Madrid’s youth academy, coaching the Infantil A team in the 2018-2019 season, with whom he won the league and the Tournament of Champions.

Now, he returns to Real Madrid as one of the best coaches in the world, having made history at Bayer Leverkusen, where he won the Bundesliga, German Cup, and German Super Cup over the span of three seasons.

Tomorrow, Monday, May 26, at 12:30 PM, Xabi Alonso will be presented as the new head coach of Real Madrid in an event at Ciudad Real Madrid.

Prior to the presentation, Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez will receive Xabi Alonso for the official signing ceremony linking him with the club for the next three seasons.

After the presentation, Xabi Alonso will speak to the media in the press room at Ciudad Real Madrid.”
