Mbappé’s Frustration and Real Madrid’s Defensive Struggles in Draw with Real Sociedad

Kylian Mbappé was visibly frustrated during the Real Madrid vs. Real Sociedad match, which ended in a chaotic 4-4 draw. The game, filled with defensive errors and constant attacking action, allowed Real Madrid to progress to the Copa del Rey final, but it also exposed serious defensive weaknesses that nearly cost them.
Real Sociedad took a surprising 3-1 lead near the final stages of the match, creating tension at the Bernabéu. However, Jude Bellingham and Aurélien Tchouaméni quickly scored to bring the score to 3-3. Just as it seemed the game was under control, Mikel Oyarzabal’s goal in the dying moments looked set to send the game to extra time.

Mbappé, visibly upset by Oyarzabal’s goal, was caught on camera gesturing angrily, saying “Four goals at home” as he walked back to the center circle. His frustration was clear as he returned to restart play. The French forward’s reaction highlighted the defensive fragility that almost led to an embarrassing elimination for Real Madrid.
Ancelotti Acknowledges Defensive Issues
In the post-match press conference, Carlo Ancelotti echoed Mbappé’s concerns, acknowledging the defensive mistakes made by his team. He noted, “There’s been a bit of bad luck. Alaba touched the ball twice and had played a good match.”
However, Ancelotti didn’t shy away from admitting that conceding four goals was concerning, even as he pointed out the positive aspect of scoring four in return. He said, “I didn’t like conceding four goals, but it’s good to score four. It’s a team with little balance, but a lot of effectiveness.”
This lack of balance, which Ancelotti has mentioned multiple times throughout the season, remains a key issue for the team. Despite their offensive strength, Real Madrid’s defensive shortcomings could cost them important titles as the season progresses.
