Manchester United Eyes Real Madrid winger as Potential Replacement for Struggling Antony
When Manchester United secured the signing of Antony from Ajax last year for a reported fee of approximately €100 million, expectations were high for the Brazilian international. However, Antony has faced challenges in meeting those expectations, leading to speculations about a potential replacement.
According to reports from The Sun, Manchester United is now considering Japanese international Takefusa Kubo as a replacement for Antony. The 23-year-old Brazilian has struggled to make the desired impact, prompting United to explore alternatives.
Kubo, who spent three years at Real Madrid without making a first-team appearance, has found success since joining Real Sociedad in the summer of 2022. Manchester United has reportedly sent scouts to observe Kubo on at least seven occasions this season, indicating a genuine interest in the winger.
Real Sociedad is said to be open to a transfer fee in the range of £43 million for Kubo. Interestingly, Real Madrid is believed to have a 50% sell-on clause in Kubo’s deal with Real Sociedad, adding another layer of complexity to the potential transfer.
With impressive stats of 6 goals and 3 assists in 16 La Liga appearances this season, Kubo has established himself as one of the standout players in the Spanish top flight. As the speculation surrounding Kubo’s future continues, it remains to be seen whether he will make a move to Manchester United or potentially return to Real Madrid.
