Liverpool and Chelsea Keeping Tabs on Kylian Mbappe’s Contract Situation

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has made it clear that they will not let Kylian Mbappe leave the club for free, but time is running out, with just over 10 weeks left before they lose control of the situation.

Mbappe’s contract with PSG expires in the summer of 2024, and from January 2024, he can enter into negotiations with other clubs and sign a pre-contract. This puts pressure on PSG to secure a new deal for him, as they would prefer not to have a similar last-minute situation as in his previous contract renewal.

While it’s often assumed that Mbappe’s future lies with Real Madrid, given his previous rejections of Los Blancos on three occasions, there are no guarantees. According to GdS (via Sport), Liverpool and Chelsea are closely monitoring Mbappe’s contract situation and are prepared to negotiate with him if he becomes available for a free transfer.

PSG’s preference is to extend his contract by one year and then sell him next summer to generate revenue for the club. However, Liverpool and Chelsea would only consider making substantial financial offers if Mbappe becomes available on a free transfer, similar to the possible scenario with Real Madrid.

For Real Madrid, if they believe they are competing with other clubs in terms of salary offers, they might employ a strategy similar to the one that persuaded Jude Bellingham to join them. Despite Liverpool and Manchester City offering more money, Real Madrid convinced the 20-year-old to sign with them instead.
