Kylian Mbappe Forgoes Substantial Loyalty Bonuses at Paris Saint-Germain
Paris Saint-Germain’s decision to reintegrate Kylian Mbappe into their squad has not been without consequences for the French football sensation, according to the latest reports from France.
Previously, Mbappe had been kept separate from the first team, and PSG CEO Nasser Al-Khelaifi had publicly stated that Mbappe needed to either extend his contract or consider a move elsewhere.
As of now, neither of these options has materialized, but Mbappe has rejoined the team. L’Equipe, as reported by Sport, reveals that Mbappe has sacrificed a portion of his significant loyalty bonuses to facilitate his return. These bonuses, typically estimated to be between €60-80 million, are said to save PSG approximately €100 million.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that PSG and Mbappe are currently engaged in contract renewal discussions, but both Romano and L’Equipe emphasize that no deal is imminent.
Should Mbappe choose to renew with PSG, even with an exit clause allowing Real Madrid to potentially sign him at a reduced price, it’s conceivable that Real Madrid may reconsider their pursuit. With Jude Bellingham currently in the spotlight, Real Madrid might determine that a different forward with less contractual complexity is a more advantageous option.
