Jude Bellingham Expected to Play El Clasico Despite Minor Injury Scare
Real Madrid’s star player, Jude Bellingham, is likely to be available for the upcoming El Clasico clash, despite being substituted with an apparent injury during their recent Champions League match against Braga.
Bellingham left the field in the 87th minute of the Tuesday match, clutching the back of his right leg and showing signs of discomfort. Manager Carlo Ancelotti later clarified that it was a minor strain and expressed confidence in his swift recovery.
According to Marca, Ancelotti had originally planned to substitute Bellingham earlier, but decided to keep him on after Braga managed to narrow the deficit in Portugal. So far this season, Bellingham has accumulated 1,036 minutes of play, making him the second-highest in terms of minutes among Real Madrid players, following closely behind Antonio Rudiger (1,120 minutes).
Diario AS reports that there are no concerns about Bellingham’s availability for the El Clasico. After the initial diagnosis and a day of rest, Bellingham underwent a further assessment on Thursday evening, with sources stating there is “no doubt” that he will be ready to take the field.
This news comes as a significant relief for Ancelotti, as Bellingham has played a pivotal role, contributing to 53.8% of Real Madrid’s goals this season. His presence will be crucial in the El Clasico, especially as Barcelona is dealing with multiple player absences. Bellingham is expected to seize any opportunities that may arise in the Blaugrana midfield during the much-anticipated match.
