Luka Modric’s Evolution and Uncertain Future at Real Madrid

A decade ago, Luka Modric arrived at Real Madrid as a 27-year-old midfielder from Tottenham Hotspur and was initially labeled the worst summer signing in La Liga. Fast forward to the present, and he stands as a football superstar, boasting a Ballon d’Or accolade and a pivotal role in Real Madrid’s capture of 23 trophies, including five Champions League titles.

Now at the age of 38, Modric faces challenges at the club as emerging talents like Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni are often preferred over him in the starting lineup. His last start was in the Madrid derby, where he was substituted after just 45 minutes. Since then, he has watched two consecutive games from the bench, only to be brought on as a second-half substitute against Napoli.

The last time Modric missed two consecutive games for Real Madrid was in his debut season, under the management of Jose Mourinho, due to a lack of adequate preseason training.
