Huijsen Plans a €54 Million Water Park: 98,377 Square Metres and 6,000 Visitors a Day

Dean Huijsen

Dean Huijsen is one of the partners in Daimdon SL, a family-run company headed by his father, Donald Caspar Huijsen. Alongside Dean, his brothers Daimen and Donny are also involved, making it very much a family business. The most striking aspect of the project is their intention to invest in Spain by developing a large-scale water park in Casar de Cáceres.

The project was announced some time ago, but progress has slowed significantly. The planned investment stands at €54 million, with the original idea being to open the park in the summer of 2026. The complex would cover 98,377 square metres and is designed to accommodate between 4,000 and 6,000 visitors per day.

Beyond the summer season, the park would also operate in winter thanks to heated pools, allowing year-round use.

Rising Costs

Due to the sharp increase in construction material prices, the initial investment has risen by €16 million. This is a common issue affecting large-scale developments of this kind. On the positive side, the project is expected to generate a significant number of jobs, both during the construction phase and once the park is operational.

Construction Yet to Begin

In February 2025, El Periódico de Extremadura reported that construction was expected to begin around that time. However, the project currently appears to be at a standstill. Some residents in Cáceres have voiced their frustration, blaming the delays on administrative red tape and the complex paperwork involved.

The situation is disappointing for many locals, who were excited about the economic and social boost the project promised. For now, the water park remains on hold, despite earlier expectations that it would be fully ready by this summer.
