Guardiola Frustrated Over Arda Güler’s Success at Real Madrid
Pep Guardiola is astounded by the level and potential of Arda Güler. Despite the immense talent he showed, Manchester City did not aggressively pursue the young Turkish star, leaving the race to Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Seeing Güler’s performances at Real Madrid, even with limited opportunities, City now regrets their decision. “If Madrid gives him regular playtime, that kid can be unstoppable, he’s very good,” is what Guardiola and his technical team think about Güler.
Guardiola believes Güler could have been an ideal replacement for Bernardo Silva, who is expected to leave the English club soon. Real Madrid, however, has secured Güler’s services until at least June 30, 2029.
Everyone at Real Madrid sees a bright future for Arda Güler. Despite a rough start due to injuries in his first five months, and the subsequent period needed to build muscle and adapt to the team, Güler has shown significant promise. Such challenges are normal for a 19-year-old adjusting to a new environment.
Expectations are high for Güler to receive more playing time next season. With Toni Kroos set to depart, more minutes could open up in the midfield. Ancelotti sees Güler as a player who should be close to the goal due to his scoring ability, but also recognizes his potential as a central midfielder.
Güler’s versatility allows him to play any midfield or attacking position except for a defensive pivot, providing many opportunities for him in the team. Given the length of the upcoming season and the number of matches, Ancelotti will need to manage players’ minutes through rotation, offering Güler ample chances to shine.
