Former Real Madrid Star Who Left This Summer Opens Up About Failed Spell – ‘It’s a Unique Club
While Real Madrid refrained from making any signings in August, the club did finalize two significant departures before the transfer deadline. Reinier Jesus embarked on his fourth loan journey, this time to Frosinone, while Alvaro Odriozola concluded his series of loan spells by making a permanent return to his former club, Real Sociedad. Odriozola, despite limited playing time at the Santiago Bernabeu, expressed his gratitude for the efforts of both clubs in facilitating the move and conveyed his determination to create history with La Real.
Odriozola acknowledged the significant role played by Real Sociedad’s President, Jokin Aperribay, along with Sporting Director Roberto Olabe and Erik. He also extended his appreciation to Real Madrid’s Florentino Perez and Jose Angel Sanchez for making his return to his hometown club possible.
The defender’s tenure at the Santiago Bernabeu spanned five years but featured just 49 appearances and 3,340 minutes of playing time. This period also included loan stints at Bayern Munich and Fiorentina. Despite the challenges, Odriozola had a positive outlook on his time at Real Madrid.
He remarked, “It is a very peculiar club, a club where you undoubtedly encounter the greatest competition, more than in any other club in the world. Zidane, Lopetegui, Solari, Ancelotti, I have learned a lot, although the circumstances were not ideal. Although it may seem like I didn’t have a good time, it was a fulfilling phase.”
Returning to Real Sociedad, Odriozola will now vie with Hamare Traore for the starting right-back position under the guidance of manager Imanol Alguacil. With La Real competing in the Champions League, Odriozola is expected to receive the playing opportunities that have eluded him in recent years, presenting him with a fresh chance to make a significant impact.
