Florentino’s Response to Bruno Guimaraes’ Madrid Signing: ‘We’ll Be Signing…’
It’s inevitable for Real Madrid to be at the center of all transfer market rumors: any potential team change becomes extremely noticeable if the white entity is involved.
The plans of the board led by Florentino Pérez for the transfer market seem increasingly clear, although there’s always room for ‘surprise’ signings that materialize at the last minute due to the good performance of those players in question. However, these cases don’t always occur. The latest name to appear on the white agenda is Bruno Guimarães.
According to the latest rumors, Real Madrid would be willing to pay €100 million or even more to secure the Newcastle United player’s signature. Florentino Pérez, aware that the Madrid executives haven’t reached that decision, comments with some irony on these speculations: “If we keep going like this, and it’s only April, we’ll be signing 200 players.”
This lighthearted remark from Florentino Pérez regarding the constant market rumors surrounding Real Madrid is the only reaction permitted from the Valdebebas offices: any gesture, if misinterpreted, would fuel those rumors as has happened on other occasions with players like Kylian Mbappé.
Doesn’t Make Sense While it’s true that Bruno Guimarães is a player who could fit into the current Madrid squad, the main issue is his position: he plays as a holding midfielder. That position, thanks to the good performances of Eduardo Camavinga and Aurélien Tchouaméni, is more than covered. Therefore, he loses a lot of ground compared to attacking midfielders like Jamal Musiala or Florian Wirtz.
Despite the rumors, Florentino Pérez knows perfectly well which players he should sign to complete the generational transition. Those destined to wear the white shirt for the 24/25 season are already close to being officially confirmed, so the next step is to work thinking about the summer transfer market of 2025… where Bruno Guimarães would still not be a priority.
