Fabrizio Romano Affirms Kylian Mbappe Engaged in Negotiations for Paris Saint-Germain Contract Extension
Real Madrid did not make a last-minute push, at least not a successful one, to bring Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain during the transfer window’s closing moments. Instead, contract negotiations for Mbappe are back on the agenda.
Initially, it seemed that Mbappe had decided to remain at PSG this summer but without signing a new contract. After being initially excluded from the first team and later making a return, Mbappe now appears to be in better spirits.
Fabrizio Romano, in an exclusive statement to Caught Offside on their Substack platform, confirmed that Mbappe is currently engaged in talks regarding a new contract with PSG:
“He’s finally in discussions with the club, something that didn’t happen in June and July. Mbappe’s representatives are in talks with PSG about his future, and an extension is being considered, although nothing has been finalized yet.”
“The terms of a potential extension, including an exit clause for 2024, will be crucial.”
Separate reports have suggested that Real Madrid may require Mbappe not to sign a new contract and remain open for free negotiations when January arrives if he intends to join the Santiago Bernabeu next summer.
Mbappe’s decision-making and the constant rumors surrounding his future have left Real Madrid fans unsettled. While he may be exploring his options, the news is unlikely to receive a warm reception in Madrid.
