Eden Hazard Shines in Charity Match, Reflects on Retirement Decision
Eden Hazard displayed his skills in a charity match in France between Le Varietes Club de France and Team Calais, scoring a goal and providing five assists. The game featured prominent names such as former Barcelona forward Ludovic Giuly, France national team manager Didier Deschamps, Claude Puel, and Wilfred Mbappe, father of Kylian Mbappe. Hazard even assisted Wilfred Mbappe for one of the goals.
The match raised £12,900 for the benefit of children and teenagers in hospitals throughout the country. Hazard’s performance on the pitch was outstanding, prompting questions about his early retirement at the age of 32.
Reflecting on his decision after the game, Hazard stated, “I always said that I would stop playing as soon as I no longer had fun on the field. I didn’t want to go play somewhere for the money. I didn’t enjoy training… and I didn’t play anymore. The decision was simple.”
